Abstract

The squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a malignant neoplasm of keratinocytes. Its development is usually multifactorial and is associated with prolonged exposure to ultraviolet light and lack of pigment in the epidermis, and some authors have reported a possible relationship with viral agents. Endoscopy in veterinary medicine is an indirect inspection method used in the diagnosis and aid in the treatment of certain conditions. After service in the veterinary hospital ruminant, University of São Paulo (USP) in 2013, reported the case of a bovine papillomatosis associated with CCE. In order to obtain a more detailed picture of the extent of the injury, we used endoscopy for evaluation of the entire oral cavity, noting ulcerative, irregular lesion of approximately 10 cm in length reaching the region of the lingual tórus. In the oropharynx, esophagus and rumen observed several, non-ulcerated, nodular lesions of approximately 0.1 cm compatible to papillomas. After endoscopy applied to violet gensiana ulcerative lesion. The definitive diagnosis for CCS occurred with the biopsy of the lesion language. The multifactorial etiology of CCE in animal production requires more retrospective and prospective studies to determine the role of each factor in the pathogenesis of this neoplasm.
