Abstract

The gangrenous mastitis is the most radical forms of mastitis, leading to loss of udder affected, is therefore necessary to conduct the surgical treatment to removed necrotic tissue. Describes the clinical features and surgical procedures in two cases of gangrenous mastitis in goats attended at AGA / DMV / UFRPE which was held in one of the goats with isolation of Staphylococcus aureus in milk, unilateral radical mastectomy healing by first intention and in the other case curettage and physical chemistry of mammary parenchyma to healing by secondary intention. After postoperative using gentamicin and flunixim meglumine, both treatments were demonstrated effective to relation to the extraction of necrotic tissue and preventing contamination of healthy gland.
